Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP) integrates both cognitive and somatic methods in the treatment of trauma, attachment, and developmental issues. Taught internationally to psychotherapists and allied professionals, it allows professional therapists to include somatic interventions in their clinical work. The Foundation for Human Enrichment presents
Touch Skills Training for Psychotherapists
A Post Graduate Somatic Experiencing Training
Instructor: Kathy L. Kain M.Ed, Director of Training at FHE

This program is specifically developed for Somatic Experiencing (SE) practitioners in the mental health fields who want to deepen their understanding of body-based awareness and expand their touch-related skills for use in SE and psychotherapy sessions. This program is designed primarily for students who have graduated from the SE training, but is also open to SE students who have completed the Intermediate level. Therapists without Somatic Experiencing training will also be considered. The primary focus of the program is on developing tactile, body awareness and other touch-related skills in the context of working with the resolution of trauma in a psychotherapeutic setting. While the program presumes that participants are open to incorporating touch into their practices in some form, the skills that will be learned can be adapted for use in practice settings that do not support actual physical contact with clients.

The course will be offered in two levels, each made up of two modules, of four days each. For those interested in acquiring basic touch skills to be used in the SE and psychotherapy context, Level 1, Modules 1 and 2 (a total of 8 training days) will provide a solid set of skills for using touch-oriented interventions. For those wishing to continue on into a deeper understanding of the use of touch, and to receive a post-graduate SE certificate, Level 2, Modules 1 and 2 are offered (made up of an additional 8 training days, for a total of 16 training days to complete the certificate course). Completion of Level 1 is a prerequisite for admission to Level 2. Each level of the course also requires 2 personal sessions and 2 case consultations with authorized providers for completion.

SENSORY AWARENESS WORKSHOP - Nature and Our Nature

CORTES ISLAND, B.C., CANADA
JULY 8-15, 2009

We are naturally born as vital, fully sensory beings. Traumas, tensions, even some education can diminish our vitality, creating unrest and insecurity in our lives. Sensory Awareness - the practice of deeply exploring our sensations, our actions and interactions, through practical sensing experiments - can guide us back to our natural resources and lead us to more authenticity and vitality. Through Sensory Awareness we can recover ways of living more fully in the world, rediscovering the wisdom and interconnection of our whole selves and reclaiming our natural being.

In this workshop, participants will explore their sensations and responses internally and externally, in relationship with others, with nature and with our human nature. These explorations can bring a trust and security that may assist us in finding the ability and pleasure of responding more sensitively and authentically in our lives. As we find our natural vitality we can relate more fully with others, find peace and satisfaction in our selves, and the ability to extend it further into the world. Time to rest, swim, play, and enjoy beautiful Cortes Island will be an integral part of this workshop.

Register with: Judyth Weaver, PhD - 415-388-3151 or judyth@judythweaver.com
