Marcy Axness, Ph.D., Early Human Development, Union Institute, 2003
Dr. Axness writes and lectures internationally on the complex tapestry of attachment, society, and child/parent development. Her refreshing, authoritative voice has invigorated the field of adoption and child advocacy, and she is one of the world’s few experts on the pre- and perinatal issues in adoption. Her studies and research encompass many disciplines, yielding a “big picture” appreciation of the myriad influences on human development, but her abiding passion is prenatal psychology and its concordance with esoteric wisdom traditions and the latest cellular, neurodevelopmental and consciousness research. Informed by interpersonal neurobiology she coined a new term for relational trauma with her dissertation, Malattachment and the Self Struggle: Separation, Survival, and Healing. Dr. Axness has a private counseling practice in the L.A. area specializing in fertility, adoption, prenatal and early parenting. Weaving together scientific findings and spiritual principles into her Quantum Parenting approach, she assists clients in nurturing their children’s healthiest development from pre-conception/pre-adoption onward, as well as their own inner development as parents.
Areas of expertise: Adoption; attachment; fertility psychobiology; cultural anthropology of pregnancy, birth and reproductive technologies.

served as an Associate Professor of Anatomy in the School of Medicine
at the University of Wisconsin (Madison, 1973-1982), He resigned

the cell, revealed that the behavior and health of the cell was controlled
by the environment, findings that were in direct contrast with prevailing
dogma that life is controlled by genes. Lipton returned to academia
as a Research Fellow at Stanford University School of
Medicine to test his hypotheses (1987-1992). His ideas concerning
environmental control were substantiated in two major scientific
publications. The new research reveals the biochemical pathways
connecting the mind and body and provides insight into the molecular
